I am so honored, humbled, and extremely grateful to be nominated by the amazing Lisa Lotts from Garlic + Zest for the Newbie Blogging Liebster Award. (Be sure and check out her blog.) This is my first blogging award, and I am excited to pass it along to other bloggers.
What is the Newbie Blogger Liebster Award?
The Newbie Blogging Liebster Award is an award given to new bloggers, usually for those who have less than 200 followers, by other bloggers as a way to support each other in our journey to growing and building our blogs.
What are the rules?
- Post your award to your blog.
- Answer the questions you were given by the person who nominated you
- Nominate a small group of other new bloggers you’ve discovered
- Create 10 new questions for the nominees
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and link their blog.
Here are the questions Lisa gave me, along with my answers!
Is blogging your only job or do you moonlight as well?
I would love for blogging to be my only job, but I do also love being involved in many different things. Currently I work full time for an entertainment company as the Executive Assistant and Social Media Director. I also just got accepted into grad school, and am pursing my masters in healthcare informatics!
Why blogging?
I love the internet and have been blogging since my xanga days (geez I sound old, lol). I just love the fact that I get to write about and share things that I am really passionate about. It’s a fun way to express myself and interact with other people.
Who do you admire in your blogging space?
I admire so many people in my blogging space and they are forever changing as I come across new blogs, but right now a few blogs that I admire are:
Caroline of Love & Loathing LA– I love how I can get two of my favorite things food + fashion all on her site. She visits some of the coolest places in LA, and I kind of get to live vicariously through her posts (hope that’s not weird, lol)
Hetal of Pretty Polymath– Not only was she one of my favorite contestants on Master Chef season 6, but I think her recipes are wildly creative! She makes vegetarian food look amazingly delicious, and I’ve tried several of her recipes and they turned out great.
Adrianna of A Cozy Kitchen– Her blog name says it all. Her recipes + posts always make me feel extremely cozy and homie. She takes beautiful food pictures, and inspires me to get my photography skills up!
Vanessa Schmidt of Tribes N Pines– Her Portfolio is amazing. Her pictures are beautiful. I get a lot of inspiration looking at her style. It’s unique and whimsical!
What are your short-term and long term goals for your blog?
My short-term goal for my blog is to build consistency with how many times I post a week, and keeping my content creative and relevant. I’d also like to get my following more involved with my content.
My long-term goal for this blog is to eventually start to generate income from it. I’m a huge advocate for having multiple streams of income, and I want this blog to be one of them.
On vacation are you plugged in or off the grid?
I am definitely plugged off the grid on when I go on vacation. I like to spend time with my family/friends and explore my vacation spot.
What’s your favorite food city and why?
My favorite food city would have to be New Orleans. The food culture their is so rich; it’s a way of life. I can’t think of any other city where the food, music, and culture all intertwine as one. It’s amazing!
What’s the easiest and hardest part about blogging for you?
The easiest part of blogging to me is coming up with ideas. So many different ideas pop into my mind everyday so naturally I feel like I will at least always have something to write about.
The hardest part of blogging for me is getting down a routine and setting out the days that I am going to post to my blog. Even though I get a lot of ideas; there are just some times when I don’t feel like writing or doing anything blog related.
Favorite guilty pleasure?
My favorite guilty pleasure at the moment are the Baconator Fries from Wendy’s. So not helping my waistline..lol!
How do you come up with ideas for your blog?
I’m literally inspired by anything. That being said I watch Food Network and cooking shows everyday, and I’m always looking at recipes on Pinterest and YouTube. I’m pretty big on getting to know the Food Culture in Los Angeles right now so that also inspires me.
Relationship status? Any kids (2 or 4 legged)?
I am in a relationship. I have no kids and no pets; although I really want an English Bulldog…they are so freakin cute!
