These Air Fryer Suya Potato Wedges are a DELICIOUS quick and easy recipe that uses fresh cut russet potatoes seasoned with suya spice resulting in an irresistible and tasty bite.
I’m not sure what kitchen gadget creation has been your favorite, but for me the air fryer has completely changed the way I now prepare a lot of recipes. It’s such a convenient appliance and makes cooking a breeze. I’m definitely that person who questions whether something can be thrown in the air fryer or not, and so far I’ve been putting almost everything in it! Ha!
Cue these suya potato wedges! First of all, ya’ll know how I love my suya especially since its great as a seasoning on almost everything. From the obvious beef, to chicken, seafood, and even vegetables suya belongs on everything and these potato wedges are no exception. Preparing these suya potato wedges couldn’t be any easier to prepare.
To start, wash your potatoes. No need to peel the skin unless you absolutely want to. From there soak your potatoes in a bowl of ice cold water for at least 30 minutes. Then you’ll want to remove the potatoes and make sure that they are dried thoroughly . Do not skip this part or the result will be potatoes that do not crisp up. Drizzle the potatoes with olive oil and now it’s time to add the seasonings.
The main seasoning for these suya potato wedges is of course the suya. I have shared several recipes on making the suya seasoning from scratch or store bought works just fine. To the suya you will also need to add garlic powder, smoked paprika, and a knorr seasoning cube. This is what makes up the seasoning blend for the potato wedges. You will also season the potatoes with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
From there you’ll place the wedges in the air fryer basket ensuring that you do this in a single layer. If you need to fry the potatoes in batches do so. Overcrowding the basket will also result in potatoes that don’t crisp up. You’re going to fry the potatoes at 400 degrees F for 15 min. Every 5 minutes make sure to pause the fryer and shake the basket so that the wedges get tossed around. This is so that all the sides of the potatoes cook and crisp up. After 15 minutes the suya potato wedges are ready to be served with your favorite dipping sauces. My go to sauces for these are perinaise (a spicy tangy mayo) and ketchup. Check out the recipe below. Enjoy!
