A few weeks ago I got to check out The Morrison Pub located in Los Feliz with some fellow food bloggers and Platful (a new food discovery app coming soon). Now I know checking out restaurants is something you guys are used to seeing me do, but it’s not very often that I get to visit a place that’s made Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.
Not only did The Morrison make the list, but they also managed to make the top ten landing a coveted spot at #7. That’s a pretty huge deal for a restaurant, and I can definitely see why they were voted so highly because the food was DELICIOUS!
Located in Atwater Village just a few blocks from Griffith Park, The Morrison is in a prime location because they offer parking (something that can be so hard to find in LA). There is plenty of indoor seating, but also a nice outside patio that not only allows you to enjoy your food in the beautiful LA weather, but you can also enjoy with your fury friend because they are a dog friendly restaurant that also serves a dog menu. They specialize in signature crafted burgers, sides, drinks, and desserts. I got to try a little bit of everything; including their famous bread pudding (which also happens to be voted best bread pudding by Yelp as well).
So… here were a few of my favorites from the tasting!
The Atwater Veggie
Surprisingly there was no meat on this beautiful looking burger, and I was just fine with that. The patty was made out of quionoa and squash and was topped with avocado, carrot, mint, and cucumber. It had an underlying sweetness to it. If I was a vegetarian (or just trying to eat cleaner) this would be a good contender.
The Shroomer
Again no meat on this burger, but when you’re eating portabello mushrooms like this you won’t even miss the meat. This was a heartier choice with braised portabello, onion ring, fig jam, and blue cheese.
Classic Burger Sliders
Simple sliders with a beef patty blend, lettuce, tomato, onion, beer mustard, and a secret sauce. Sadly I don’t know what the secret sauce was made out of (it’s a secret), but I do know that this was definitely a good choice.
The So-Cal
A chicken sandwich that was probably one of my favorites that I’ve had in a while. It was bursting with flavor! Organic chicken, green chilies, smoked cheddar crisp, and a slaw.
The Corned Beef Sandwich
Corned beef, pickles, caramelized cabbage, and beer mustard. This was also a really good sandwich that was strong in flavor. The pickles went really well with the corned beef and the caramelized cabbage brought the whole sandwich together.
The Red Hot “Morrison” Wings
Wings were soooo good!! They were made and tossed in the special Morrison hot sauce and packed a lot of heat! They weren’t overly hot though. Just perfect.
Cheese Fries with Bacon Jam
Hands down my favorite of the night. Hand cut potato fries with cheddar cheese band a homemade bacon and onion jam. The fries were crispy and salty, and the bacon jam made them even better.
The Ice Cream Bars
Nutella ice cream bar/ circus animal ice cream bar/ apple pie ice cream bar/ peppermint ice cream bar/ strawberry shortcake bon bons. You can’t go wrong when choosing any of these ice cream bars. They were all so pretty! My favorite was the Apple Pie Ice Cream Bar.
Butterscotch Bread Pudding
The star of the show! I didn’t even know I liked bread pudding until I had this bad boy right here! The bread was crispy on the outside, but so soft and warm on the inside. It wasn’t too sweet and had hints of vanilla and all spice. The vanilla ice cream on top was perfect. I seriously understand why this was voted the best bread pudding! It was so good that I suggested that my boyfriend and I go there for Valentine’s Day just to get this dessert. So yes, I’m not ashamed to admit that I had this bread pudding two days in a row! LOL
I highly recommend visiting The Morrison! Not only did I get to eat there as a food blogger, but I went back the next day as a regular patron and the food was still just as amazing!
