It’s safe to say that I have fallen in love with salads. Who knew a that a company who started in D.C. would be responsible for this new found love affair, but it’s real and I’m not ashamed to admit it!
I first had a Sweetgreen salad a few months ago when they opened their first location in LA. My office was right next to it, and while they were building it all I could think was “great another salad shop..just what LA needs”. However, I was pleasantly surprised because the salad I ordered was probably one of the best salads I had ever eaten and thus the love affair began.
This past weekend I was invited to celebrate the opening of their new Hollywood location at the first ever Sweetgreen LA Instameet. We met at the store for breakfast, and then headed over to Drake Family Farms, a local goat farm in Ontario, California that supplies the Chevre cheese for the Sweetgreen LA locations. It was truly such an amazing and rewarding trip! I got to meet some awesome people all while learning about owning and taking care of a goat farm, and let me just tell you… it is A LOT of work! It made me appreciate local farmers that much more because you can really see the love and passion they have for what they do. I fully support the “farm-to-table” movement that we are starting to see pop up in local restaurants. Restaurants that focus on sustainability and being a part of the local community in which they serve food in plays a HUGE part to a thriving and healthy society, and this is one of the main reasons I love Sweetgreen! It’s more than just a salad chain. Check out some of the pics from my trip below including my favorite part; meeting a one day old baby goat! Too cute for words!!
