Ling Ling Fried Rice Dinner with Chef Katie Chin

0 860 views

My love for Ling Ling Fried Rice lead me to attend an event they were hosting in Los Angeles with Chef Katie Chin; where she demonstrated and taught us some delicious Asian inspired sides to pair with the different flavors of fried rice!

Now I’m always on the hunt for side dishes because I feel that it’s one thing I don’t prepare enough of. I was super excited to see what we were going to be cooking, and it was so much fun to be in the kitchen with other bloggers. Chef Katie has such an inviting and engaging personality. It was awesome to hear her story on how she started cooking, and her personal relationship with Ling Ling Asian Kitchens. Her mom, a famous chef had been serving Ling Ling’s egg rolls in her restaurants since the brand came to fruition, and she continues to work with them now on their new lines of fried rice. Chef put us to work preparing  3 different side dishes to go with the Ling Ling fried rices! The 3 flavors we prepared were the Bibimbap Beef, Chinese Style Vegetable, and the Yakitori Chicken and the sides were a Japanese Cucumber Salad, Marinated Soy Bean Sprouts (Kongnamool), and Miso Butter Portabello Mushrooms. Now, I LOVED all 3 side dishes but my favorite were definitely the miso butter mushrooms and the Japanese cucumber salad. What’s so great about these sides were that it didn’t matter what flavor rice they were paired with. They all tasted amazing together!

My love for Ling Ling continues to soar because it’s so nice to have an option of going to the freezer aisle in your grocery store and coming home to a flavorful meal that’s ready in  no time! Perfect for those busy week nights, and as the summer is coming to an end I know that these rices are going to be a staple in my freezer!

After we finished cooking we all sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Having now tried all 5 Ling Ling flavors; I definitely have to say that my favorite is the Bibimbap Beef. I love the gochuchang and umami flavor in the rice, and it was PERFECT with the miso butter mushrooms! One thing that’s not missing from the rice… FLAVOR!
