Put a quick and delicious dinner on the table in no time with this lemon garlic butter salmon baked in foil. Super easy to make and absolutely mouth-watering!
This Lemon Garlic Butter Salmon is probably one of my favorite ways to prepare salmon. It’s such an easy recipe with very few ingredients so there’s minimal clean up! Not to mention, the taste! It’s amazing how flavorful this salmon is with just lemon, garlic, butter, and a few seasonings.
I love that you can prepare this salmon in one pan or sheet-tray. I’m using a grill pan because I just love how nicely it crisps up the skin, but you can also use a sheet-tray lined with foil to turn this into a delicious sheet pan dinner. There are so many different way to prepare salmon, but this has to be my favorite because of the combination of garlic and butter.
Garlic and Butter
I don’t think there is a better combination. Especially when you use these two on seafood. Throw in some lemon juice and you’ve taken flavor to the next level! Here’s how I made the lemon butter garlic.
- Melt your butter
- Mix lemon juice and crushed garlic through it and let it heat for a few seconds
You then pour this over the salmon fillets, and you can save a little on the side as a drizzle over the salmon after it’s done cooking, or on any of the sides you choose. I love to drizzle this over broccoli or green beans. So yummy!
The Salmon
For this Lemon Garlic Butter Salmon, you can either use a whole salmon fillet or salmon that has been cut into pieces and filleted. I love getting a whole salmon from the farmer’s market, and having them divide and fillet them for me, It’s more cost effective this way as I do eat a lot of salmon, and it takes the work from me having to fillet the fish myself. I make it a point to shop local and support my community’s farmer’s markets and salmon is one of the best finds there.
Before pouring the Lemon Garlic Butter sauce on the salmon, season with salt and freshly grated black pepper to your liking. You’ll want to season both sides. This is all the seasoning this salmon really needs. If you’re feeling like you want to add more seasoning to this you can use some Italian seasoning. Bare in mind that I will be using chopped parsley in this dish as well.

To serve, top this with parsley and the sides of your choice. I love to have this lemon garlic butter salmon with steamed broccoli and oven roasted green beans. This is a super healthy way to enjoy this dish. You can also serve with white or brown rice, and really any vegetable of your choice. This salmon is great flaked up into a salad as well. Lemon Garlic Butter Salmon
Put a quick and delicious dinner on the table in no time with this lemon garlic butter salmon baked in foil. Super easy to make and absolutely mouth-watering!
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice or juice of one and a half lemons
- 6 large cloves of garlic crushed
- 2 pounds of salmon
- salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
- lemon slices
- fresh parsley chopped, about 2 tbsp
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking tray with a large piece of foil, big enough to fold over and seal to create a packet. If using a grill pan you just need to cover the top with the foil.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low-medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant (1 minute). Turn off heat and whisk in the lemon juice.
- Place the salmon skin-side down onto lined baking tray. Season both sides with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the lemon butter over the salmon, and using a spoon, spread evenly over the salmon. Sprinkle with parsley and arrange lemon slices over the salmon. Fold the sides of the foil over the salmon to cover and completely seal the packet closed.
- Bake until cooked through about 12-15 minutes. The thicker your fish the longer it will need to cook. Open the foil and place in the broiler for 1-2 minutes on medium heat. Garnish with extra parsley if desired and serve immediately.
