Lamill Coffee Boutique in Silverlake has made it’s way on to my list of favorite places to brunch or get breakfast in LA.
I haven’t exactly shared this list with you guys yet because it still under construction, but if you remember my post about brunch-in at Salt’s Cure in West Hollywood; you know I don’t play about my brunch spots! My reason for falling in love with Lamill Coffee Boutique is simple. It’s in the beautiful neighborhood of Silverlake, and it’s cute, quiet, and quaint with good coffee and food; I might add.
My first time at Lamill was early on a Saturday morning. I think it was around 8 am, and I was meeting a friend and her boyfriend for some light breakfast and coffee. I didn’t know what to expect, but when I walked in I loved how chill and relaxing the atmosphere was. Because it was so early we beat the late brunch rush; I’ve heard this place can get quite packed past 11 AM. The decor was beautiful with a large white marble counter at the front where you can grab the famous Lamill coffee and pastries, and another thing I loved where the jade green crocodile chairs. It just made the dining room feel really elegant and fancy.
When I got the breakfast menu I was pleasantly surprised. There was a nice number of menu items to make a selection from; one of my biggest pet peeves is going somewhere for breakfast and their menu ends up only having a few choices. We all decided that we would pick one dish and share with each other.
Salted Caramel Latte
This of course was the first thing to arrive to the table and I needed it! The latte was rich, foamy and had a strong coffee flavor; and wasn’t overtly sweet as sometimes caramel lattes can be. Salt goes perfectly with caramel, and for me everything was nicely balanced.
Housemade Ricotta Toast
I love beautiful toasts, and this one was both beautiful and tasty. Housemade ricotta on sour dough bread with macerated strawberries, toasted hazelnuts, lemon, basil. It was a little hard to bite through the toast, but it was very delicious.
Lamill Breakfast
The perfect breakfast plate. You can’t go wrong with eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and sour dough toast. Everything about this was done right, and the potatoes were seasoned very nicely. Don’t you just love when breakfast potatoes are crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside?
Fried Chicken and Scallion Sage Waffles
This was my favorite dish! It was more on the savory side than sweet, but I loved it. The scallion sage waffles were something that I had never had before. The closest thing I could make a comparison to would be to the Chinese scallion pancake, but I really liked the addition of sage to the waffle. Right up my alley.
Lamill Coffee Boutique is definitely worth checking out for breakfast! If you make that visit come back and tell me how you liked it, and what you ordered!
