Thank you to Icons Of European Taste for sponsoring today’s blog post.

This is one of my favorite recipes to make during the summer! It’s delicious, luxurious, and indulging all while being light and filling. This prosciutto flatbread looks AND tastes like a restaurant quality dish, and will have your friends and family feeling like you worked very hard to prepare something special.

INGREDIENTS FOR HOT HONEY PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA AND GRANA PADANO CHEESE FLATBREAD

WHAT IS PROSCUITTO di PARMA?

Prosciutto di Parma is made from just two ingredients: the hind legs of specially bred Italian pigs and sea salt. No other additives or preservatives!

It can be considered a fancy ingredient, but I love to use it in salads, toasts, and even just as a snack on its own.

When shopping for prosciutto di parma look for products that carry the Protected Designation of Origin Seal (the European Union’s guarantee of quality and authenticity, so the consumer knows they are from specific geographical area in Italy, produced by a specific process).

WHAT IS GRANA PADANO?

Grana Padano cheese is made from partially skimmed raw cow’s milk from the production area in the Pianura Padana, Northern Italy. The requirements for producing Grana Padano are very specific, and each wheel is crafted the exact same way to yield the cheese’s unique flavor. The cheese’s branding makes it instantly recognizable as authentic Grana Padano contains the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) signatures on the rind.

Grana Padano is nutty in taste, and has a creamy slightly grainy texture. Use it as a topping for your veggies, sandwiches, and salads AND to get the full use out of the cheese; do not throw the rind away! Toss the rind in a pot of homemade soup or sauces to thicken and add a depth of flavor. 🙂

When you choose PDO products such as Prosciutto di Parma and Grana Padano, you experience a passion for the Italian way of life: incomparably delicious natural food that’s never mass produced or processed.

ADDITIONAL EASY SUMMER RECIPES

Assembling of this prosciutto flatbread is SO EASY! Just drizzle the flatbreads with olive oil and sprinkle chopped garlic over them. Pop them in the oven to get crispy for 5 minutes. While the flatbreads are in the oven crisp the prosciutto up in a hot pan for about 2 minutes. You’ll then add the crisped prosciutto to the hot honey to coat it. After that just top the flatbreads with the remaining ingredients, and you are ready to eat! Enjoy!

In the picture, there are cherry tomatoes; however, they are not listed in the recipe
