A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit Crane Orchards in Fenville, Michigan, and that trip was nothing short of amazing!
Let me just start by saying that Michigan is a beautiful state to visit during the fall! With so many trees/leaves changing colors it’s almost magical! I had a rental car, and I couldn’t keep my eyes off the trees while driving! The scenery is breath taking; which made my 2 hour drive from my hotel to Crane Orchards even better!
Crane’s orchard has been around since 1880! They have over 17 different varieties of apples, and 10 varieties of peaches and sweet cherries…. a u-picker’s dream!! I went when apple season was in full effect, and I kind of felt like a kid again. There’s just something about apple/fruit picking that is so nostalgic.
To be honest I didn’t pick too many apples because what was really calling my name was their Pie Pantry right next to the orchards. Don’t get me wrong, apple picking is great but eating at the farm’s restaurant was even better!!I just loved the good old down-home feeling that the restaurant gives off. The servers were really great, and it is such a family-friendly place!
After all your hard work of fruit picking you can just mosey on down to the restaurant where they have a selection of amazing freshly cooked meals, and of course cider!! The apple cider and chili were so delicious! Everything tasted like it was made with love….no processed ingredients, etc. Just fresh! The real star of the show though was the apple pie a la mode! Seriously the BEST apple pie that I have ever had in my life!! I couldn’t believe it when the staff told me that there was no added sugar to the pies…it was just the sweetness from the apples! To me that’s amazing and how food should really be made.
Crane Orchards’ is definitely a vacation spot I recommend checking out. There is so much to do and see in Fenville, Michigan (hiking, beaches, trails, etc…) and it’s both delicious and beautiful!
Talk to you guys soon! xX

October 23, 2015I just adore orchards. My husbands aunt and uncle have one. We get crates of apples every year to can for desserts. We also make apple sauce, apple butter and cider.
