In the famous words of Julia Child… “I love cooking with wine-sometimes I even put it in the food. ”
Two things inspired the creation of this recipe..my friend came over with a bottle of Bourbon Friday night, and the cooler (finally fall like weather) here in LA kept me indoors all weekend watching some of my favorite movies. While watching Julie & Julia (Meryl Streep did such an awesome job playing Julia Child) it occurred to me that I had actually never tried cooking with alcohol! How could I proclaim myself to be a true chef… I’m of course kidding! I haven’t even been to culinary school, but in my mind I’m a true chef so that meant cooking with alcohol was definitely on the to do list of “cheffie” things to try to emulate at home. I love these bourbon glazed pork chops because they are super easy to make! You guys know that I’m all about easy and fast recipes that are packed with flavor, and these chops make the cut. Ready in less than 20 minutes, the only thing I did differently was add 2 tablespoons of bourbon to the pan and then transfer them to the oven to finish cooking. If you aren’t feeling brave enough to actually flame the sauce (I was a little too excited for this part, lol) you can keep boiling the sauce and the alcohol will cook away… however what’s the fun in that? I really love the flavor the bourbon gave the meat, and I think from now on whenever I make pork chops I’ll be sure to add bourbon if I have it on hand. Check out the recipe below 🙂Â

Ready in less than 20 minutes, these pork chops get a flavorful bath in Bourbon!
Ingredients
- 4 bone-in pork chops
- 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground red pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp of butter
- 3 tbsp chicken stock
- 2 tbsp bourbon
- salt and black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a medium sized oven safe skillet, heat 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil over medium-high heat. Season both sides of the chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper and sear in the skillet until golden brown (5 minutes per side).
- After the chops have been seared, add 1 tbsp of butter, mustard, chicken stock, and honey to the pan. Stir together and bring to a boil. Once the mixture has bubbled add the bourbon to the pan. Remove the pan from the heat and flame with a lighter or continue to cook the sauce until the alcohol burns.
- Season the sauce with more salt and pepper (if needed) and continue to cook the sauce about 2 minutes until it thickens. Flip the chops over and transfer the pan to the oven finish cooking, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven and let the chops rest about 5 minutes before serving.
