Bourbon Dinner at Del Frisco’s Grille Santa Monica

A few weeks ago, I got to visit Del Frisco’s Grille in Santa Monica for a four-course dinner featuring some of America’s finest bourbons.

Ever since landing in Santa Monica, Del Frisco’s Grille has become a local hangout and a fine beach dining destination for both the locals and tourists that walk past their door on the way to the Santa Monica Pier. With the atmosphere of a classic American bar and grill with upscale entrees; you can grab a burger with your friends while on the way to the beach, or make it a date night with upscale entrees, and their extensive wine list & hand-crafted cocktails.

A few times out of the month, Del Frisco’s hosts special events based on any events that may be going on that month or for a special menu they’d like to to debut. Joining them for the bourbon dinner was so much fun! The dinner was held in their private dining room, which had an amazing view of the Santa Monica Pier. Each course was accompanied by expertly prepared cocktails, and with the cold that’s been hitting LA recently it was nice to have the bourbon to warm up the insides.

Some of my stand out cocktails and dishes from the night were the Basil Hayden’s Spiced Fizz and the Neuskes Bacon Au Poivre & Grits with the Knob Creek Rye. Bourbon is definitely strong, but for certain dishes it was needed. It helped to enhance the flavors in the meal, and I could tell that a lot of thought went into each pairing.

Basil Hayden’s Spiced FizzBasil Hayden’s, maple syrup, fresh lime juice, and ginger beer. Hands down my favorite cocktail of the night. It was sweet and crisp thanks to the ginger beer.

Chicken Liver Jar

Toasted chicken, fat baguette & makers onion jelly. Our first course was paired with the Marker’s Mark Fig Sour- Makers mark, fig preserves, house-made lemon sour, and a splash of soda. I really enjoyed the chicken liver because of the onion jelly on top. It gave the mousse a nice sweetness. The fig sour paired perfectly with it as well.

Neuskes Bacon Au Poivre & GritsBourbon red eye jus- My favorite dish of the night! The flavors were insane with creamy grits and that smoky bacon. The Knob Creek Rye cocktail also paired perfectly with it as the rye really helped to cut the fattiness of the bacon.

Warm Sticky Coffee CakeBourbon mascarpone cream- Dessert was definitely warm and sticky! Really decadent cake and the Kentucky Coffee cocktail was amazing! These two together were the perfect pair!!

Dinner was absolutely amazing, and I’m already planning my next trip back to Del Frisco’s Grille. With Valentines Day coming up this is definitely going on the list of options!
