If you’re looking for a crispy, spicy, saucy appetizer or main dish that’s guaranteed to impress—Bang Bang Shrimp is calling your name. Lightly battered shrimp, fried until golden and tossed in a creamy, sweet-heat sauce that hits every tastebud… what more could you want?

This recipe brings restaurant-style flavor straight to your kitchen with simple ingredients and major payoff. Serve it as an appetizer, on top of rice bowls, in tacos, or over a salad—no matter how you dish it up, it bangs every time. 😏

While there are so many delicious ways to prepare shrimp; making the shrimp this way has to be one of my favorites! The sauce on the shrimp is spicy, sweet, creamy, and tangy, and the shrimp is light and crispy. A perfect union if you ask me!

INGREDIENTS FOR BANG BANG SHRIMP

  • Medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Mayo
  • Thai Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Chili Garlic Sauce
  • Egg
  • Buttermilk
  • Flour
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • Paprika
  • Onion powder
  • Salt and Black pepper
  • Vegetable Oil

HOW TO MAKE BANG BANG SHRIMP

Step 1: Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, chili sauce, Sriracha, honey, and a splash of vinegar or lime juice. Set aside—you’ll want to drizzle extra later.

Step 2: Coat the Shrimp

Toss the shrimp in buttermilk, then dredge in a mixture of flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. The cornstarch helps make them extra crispy!

Step 3: Fry to Perfection

Heat oil in a skillet or deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden and crispy, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate to drain.

Step 4: Toss + Serve

Gently toss the hot shrimp with the bang bang sauce, or drizzle the sauce on top if you want to keep that crispy crunch. Serve immediately!

Creamy, sweet, and spicy, this bang bang shrimp recipe will have you licking your fingers and craving more! Tastes just like the popular Bonefish Grill appetizer, maybe even better!
