About Ev's Eats

Hi there! Welcome to Ev’s Eats, my food and lifestyle blog. I’m Evi, a food lover and new Los Angeles transplant by way of Atlanta. I’ve been blogging on and off about different things for as long as I can remember, but the reason I started Ev’s Eats was to showcase my love and passion for food and all the yummy goodness it has to offer us.

I believe that food connects and brings us all together. My grandmother and mother instilled in me the importance of cooking and family, and this is something that I try to pass on to my friends and whoever else I come in contact with! I love taking old recipes and simplifying them as well as coming up with my own recipes. I’m big on developing flavors with ingredients as well as using a lot of spices when I cook. I also love to eat ALMOST as much I love to cook (or maybe just as much) so I do a lot of sampling of restaurants here in LA. Any time I travel, I also make it a point to try the food culture there so you’ll see some of my traveling eats on the blog too!

A quote I live by: “Learn how to cook-try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun!”- Julia Child

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy what you’ll find here on ev’s eats!

I just got your book from the library. I tried making doro wat, berbere spice mix and Egyptian flatbread with varying degrees of success. Happily the doro wat and the berbere were my biggest successes. So looking forward to trying more:)

  2. You’re beautiful! I’m going to enjoy this broccoli cauliflower casserole!

For your chicken stock you use for certain recipes (like jollof rice), do you buy it from the store or do you make it? Just wanted to know which type to use. Thanks!

Hey! I usually make my own chicken stock, but you can definitely use store bought. I do this from time to time when I have no homemade chicken stock. <3

Thank you for the jollof rice recipe. My ex made it for me all the time but I never knew how. I was addicted and now I can have my daughter prepare it for me

Hi Evi, i was going to make your One Pot Middle Eastern Chicken and Rice but the ingredients for the chicken rub/marinade seem to be missing some other liquid apart from the lemon juice because it’s far too dry with just the lemon juice. Please advise…thanks Dave

  7. Where can I find the recipe for your Killer Shrimp Marina del Ray? Please??

    1. Hi Debbie, I don’t have a recipe up but will definitely work on recreating this dish and getting one up in the future.
