It’s getting close to that time of the year… Party season!
The holidays are quickly approaching (I cannot believe we have already made it halfway through October already! Where does the time go?!) and that means parties! Lots and lots of parties! Whether you’re hosting or attending them friends and families will be asking you to bring a dish and let’s face it…things can get pretty stressful this time of year! That’s why I’m all about simple, stress free recipes that are easy to make, but look and taste like you’ve been in the kitchen for hours!
Meet my Mediterranean Hummus Canapés, beautiful to look and even more delicious to eat! For me the key to coming up with and creating “upscale” food is not a complicated recipe with a million ingredients. Instead I like to focus on using ingredients that are flavorful, and are ones that I don’t typically use in recipes all the time.
The inspiration behind these canapés come from one of my all time favorite snacks, pita chips and hummus. I used garlic roasted hummus, black kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, and basil. All I did was cut up the pita bread into triangles and bake for 1o minutes. Then comes the assembly.. a dollop of hummus, topped by an olive, then the sun dried tomatoes, a sprinkle of feta and basil… and THAT’S IT! This recipe can be done in less than 15 minutes…all with store bought ingredients! I normally make my own hummus, but if I’m in a pinch for time store bought humus works just fine 🙂
Remember, high end ingredients (or ones that you don’t normally cook with all the time) that are packed with flavor will help you get through party season this year!
What are some of your ways that you keep it simple yet classy in the kitchen during party season?
Talk to you guys soon! -xoxo

October 20, 2015What an easy and yummy appetizer! I’d probably leave off the olives on some though – I like that it seems to allow for customization!

October 20, 2015Yes totally Jess! You could really use any ingredients you like just as long as they go well with the hummus!
